AR
Do I need to use AR to use Husvarde?
No — AR tagging is entirely optional. Every core feature (tracking fixtures, maintenance history, reminders) works fully without ever opening the AR tab. This is covered in the app's first-launch walkthrough, but if you skipped past it: you can use Husvarde as a plain maintenance log with no AR at all.
Why do I have to scan the room before I can start tagging?
The first time you use AR in a room, Husvarde needs a short scan (about 45 seconds) to build a reliable map of the space before it can accurately place and remember marker positions. You'll see a progress ring and on-screen guidance during the scan — try to slowly cover corners, furniture, and ceiling fixtures for the best results.
Can I tag fixtures in more than one room?
Not yet — v1 supports AR tagging in one room at a time. Starting fresh from Settings to tag a different room will clear your current room's AR-tagged locations (your fixture records and history are unaffected). Support for multiple rooms is planned in a future update.
Why does my phone get warm during AR mode?
AR uses your camera, motion sensors, and on-device processing continuously to track your surroundings — this is genuinely demanding work, and some warmth during longer AR sessions is normal, not a sign of a problem. If it bothers you, the simplest fix is to keep AR sessions brief: open the AR tab to place or check a few markers, then switch back to the fixture list rather than leaving AR running continuously.
Does AR work well in a dark room?
AR tracking relies on your camera seeing enough visual detail in the room to understand where things are — in low light or a dark room, it can be slower to scan, slower to relocalize on a return visit, or less reliable overall. Turning on more light before scanning or tagging fixtures will generally make AR faster and more accurate.
Why do AR markers disappear when I turn away and reappear when I turn back?
That's expected — a marker only shows on screen while it's actually within your camera's current view, the same way a real object would be hidden if you turned to look somewhere else. It'll reappear as soon as you point your camera back toward it.
Sync
Why doesn't my AR marker show up on my other device?
Right now, AR-tagged locations are stored on the device where you placed them and don't sync across your other devices — even if you've unlocked sync. Your fixture records, history, and notes do sync via iCloud. Cross-device AR sync is planned for a future update; in the meantime, you can re-tag the fixture's location on each device you use.
What happens to my data if I delete the app?
Husvarde stores your fixtures on your device by default, with no account and no server holding a copy. If you've unlocked Husvarde and turned on iCloud sync, your data is also backed up through your own iCloud account and will still be there if you reinstall. But if you're on the free tier (local-only) and delete the app, that data is gone — there's no way for us to recover it, since we never had a copy to begin with.
Does Husvarde work without an internet connection?
Yes — tracking fixtures, logging maintenance, and AR tagging all work completely offline, since everything is stored locally on your device. The only thing that needs an internet connection is iCloud sync, which keeps your data in step across multiple devices if you've unlocked that feature.
Reminders
Why did my reminder disappear after I logged a service?
Maintenance reminders in Husvarde are one-time, not recurring. Logging a service clears the fixture's maintenance date and reminders by design, rather than automatically scheduling the next one — this keeps "next due" something you set intentionally rather than a guess. Just set a new maintenance date whenever you're ready to schedule the next reminder.
Troubleshooting
Why can't I see my tags right when I reopen AR mode?
On a return visit, Husvarde needs a moment to recognize the room again before it can show your existing tags in the right place. Move your phone slowly around the space — pointing at the same walls or furniture you scanned originally helps it relocalize faster. On-screen coaching will guide you if it's taking longer than expected.
Why isn't my tap placing a marker?
AR tagging needs to detect a real surface under your tap. If a tap doesn't register, you'll feel a lighter haptic and see a dimmer pulse instead of the normal placement confirmation. Try tapping a flatter, well-lit surface, or move slightly closer — after a few tries, the app will show extra guidance to help.
What does "Start Fresh" actually do?
Start Fresh clears the current room's AR scan and all its tagged marker positions so you can re-scan from a clean state. It does not delete your fixtures — your records, history, and notes are all unaffected. Use it if relocalization keeps failing or you want to re-tag a room from scratch.
Why is my AR marker not exactly where I placed it?
AR tracking can occasionally lose precision when relocalizing a room, especially if lighting has changed or few landmarks are visible. If a marker's position looks off, use Start Fresh in Settings to re-scan the room and re-place your markers.
